The only 2 ponies that I think will probably return again in G5 will be Princess Celestia and Princess Luna due to the fact that they’re both immortal.

Faust already confirmed on-line that Celestia and Luna were both immortal years ago so Hasbro could still use that as an excuse to bring Celestia and Luna back again in G5 but I think that’s all we’ll get from G4.

If those weren’t fake, then those concepts designs were made before Emily Thompson illegalized the anti-fan mentality at Hasbro. And by that I meant making G5 a sequel to G4 while being a reboot to the franchise.

Too bad we’ll see nothing of it in the actual show

Do people not know what concept art is?

I never doubted that they were real, more that I went out of my way to avoid them and not take them at face value since at the time, they were leaks and weren’t meant to be released to the public and to me it would just feel unfair judging something because of stuff that wasn’t supposed to be seen. Now that they’ve been released legally, I can safely give my judgement.

I like these 3D designs, I think they look pretty good even if some of the characters swapped species for some reason. With that though and given the actual G5 movie that we got, I thought it was a smart change to wipe the slate clean. I don’t blame them at all for panicking and hastily trying to come up with something new after those leaks got people riled up as expected, and the fruits of their labor paid off at the end.

I know there is it’s why the leaks where not true because to me concept art is fake and not true if it doesn’t make it to final product so no matter what others want to believe the concept art was not true as it was not what g5 became.

Well it does present a rather big thing, the original concept art, also had designs for other creatures. Including dragons who now wore armor and seemed to be imperialist.

Well on the pics themselfs it does say they were made by Imalou herself as her name is Lea Dabssi, so doesnt seem she was reposting other people artwork.

Naturally. I mean, take a look at the original designs for the Star Wars movie. I think the comparison between the original Ralph McQuarrie designs and the final set pieces and character designs in the original Star Wars film is an excellent example of how plans change during the production of a film or TV series. Honestly, I can imagine there were dozens, if not hundreds, of different concept designs that were proposed by people working on G5 MLP that ended up being scrapped, with the ones that were leaked being just a few of them. Doesn’t make them any less real, naturally, but it also doesn’t make them ‘canon’, since they ended up being discarded before the final draft was written (though, chances are some of the designs might be reused at some point in the G5 series for different ponies, as a ‘wink wink’ to the fanbase and to those that saw the original designs).

Honestly, I never doubted that the leaks were real, though after looking back on the leaks and comparing them to the final designs for the ponies in the film, I am honestly quite happy that the designs were scrapped, and that the whole concept of rebooting the G4 cast was replaced with a new story involving new characters.

Also, to answer this, the leaked designs look nothing like something that Imalou would design, based on the art that they posted on their Deviantart page before they were hired onto the film. So I assume that the designs were drawn up by other concept artists, before getting reposted online by Imalou.
