There is a possibility this may had been a Hasbro decision than Netflix, as if we look at some of the recent Transformers stuff, Hasbro has opted ot replace big voice actors like Frank Welker, Peter Cullen and co and instead hire more cheaper voice actors and should be noted that while the recent Transformers: War for Cybertron was under Netflix and i am 100% sure Netflix would’ve been able to afford prominent voice actors like Frank Welker, Hasbro still opted for the cheaper option.
Also we dont know really if the film actors joined under Netflix or if they were already on board when the film was still being distributed by Paramount, we dont have a proper timeline as to when they signed in, they may had started recorded after Netflix got the film, but they may had already been on board when it was still under Paramount

The most surprising to me is both Kimiko and Liza were in the latter’s YouTube red series, so that should in theory make them more likely to stay, given that YTR series aren’t exactly known for their huge budgets.

Nope, the voice change is permanent. The G5 series will be recorded in Vancouver like all MLP stuff since My Little Pony Tales and Canada has a law that prevents non-Canadians from being in Canadian productions (I think guest stars don’t count).

None of them were even “big name” actors to me, so I assumed Netflix struck a deal with them. Hell, Vanessa and Kimiko both had done Netflix original content, so I figured Netflix could at least bring the cost of maintaining the character’s voice continuity. ESPECIALLY with Kimiko, since she’s voicing so many Netflix original characters now.
Hell, the only main character voice I considered a big name was the voice of Hitch.
The voice change is just…sloppy. You shouldn’t launch a new series with a big movie, pay a bunch of money to get it as much coverage as possible, get “lucky” and allow the movie to have a 100 on Rotten Tomatoes for a little while…and then change the voices for the characters that you put in so much effort for people to grow attached to.
It reminds me of Jimmy Neutron but done poorly. When they made the movie for Jimmy Neutron they ensured the TV show would be exactly the same as the movie both in animation and voice cast. And it worked. Kids got to watch the characters they saw on the big screen every week without any difference.
Now. Anyone who grew attached to the characters in the movie will need to do a half-reset. And most people will still always prefer what they experience first. It just Netflix shooting themselves in the foot for no reason. The fact the movie was a Netflix original meant that paying the extra cost to get “big names” wouldn’t amount to much more revenue since most people who want Netflix have Netflix. The audience was already there. And now, they just have to hire more voice actors and hinder their franchise. To me there was no benefit to hiring the big names in the first place.
But hey, maybe these new voices are just for the YouTube series and I’ll look like a rambling nutcase in handful of months. Here’s hoping.

It was to be expected, i mean i myself knew the moment that they got big name actors for the film that they were gonna replace them for the show proper, as it would be expensive to keep actors like James Marsden or Vanesssa Hudgens for the show
