Ever since Red Letter Media became famous for their reviews of the Star Wars Prequels, there are always a group of angry fanboys ready to jump at the chance to critique installments of their favorite franchises in order to talk about how much of a “travesty” they are.
And just like Red Letter Media, they usually come across as unintelligble hacks who have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about. Sometimes you get a diamond in the rough, but I’m honestly going to watch with glee as a bunch of angry fanboys desperately attempt to rationalize their hissy fit and crash and burn in the process.

one of my main issues with the character designs is that they’re built like the demon spawn of slenderman and the mane six.

Once you’re over the design, that’s the real issue.
I don’t like the idea that it’s not going to be made by Studio B; meaning none of the writers for FIM are going to be working on it.
If Studio B was working on it then yeah I’d give it a shot, but since they’re not I’m going to wait until it actually airs and see what people are saying about whether or not it’s any good to decide to view or not. Sure if a couple people that view it say it’s bad then that’s probably just them, but if everyone is saying that it’s bad then I’m just not going to watch it.

There’s also only a few basic pony models that they use over and over again. It’s not any different from how FiM is made.
But we’ve been humanizing the ponies since day one.

Sadly, those tags are far outnumbered by a boring amount of humanizations that are exactly what I describe.

Knowing what I do about animation (a little) There’s probably a good reason they chose these designs.
That reason: Money dear boy!
It’s much easier to move around the same basic model than having to learn six unique ones. It also saves on budget so the animation, so the animation can be better quality.
More like we don’t want them humanized to begin with.
Any humanization isn’t white, busty, and skinny?
Have you even seen the “delicious flat chest” and “chubby” tags?
If any humanization isn’t white, busty, and skinny, it’s attacked endlessly. I know it’s hard to understand, but what appeals to a twenty-something male does not appeal to a ten year old girl.
People talk about Hasbro filling stereotypes with this, and then people say that they want a bunch of skinny white girls who wear what they think they should wear.
