The “balance” (as if several ponies who are more different in performance compared to each other than a white man and a black man could be balanced) doesn’t matter as much as you pretend it does.
 
Fluttershy’s character barely deals with being a pegasus. Most of her episodes wouldn’t be largely different if she stuck to being one of the Earth Ponies. That alone should tell you how much important your “balance” is.

I’m calling it now: Rodimus Prime moment.

If that’s the case, why would Hasbro go out of their way to make a unique-ish looking pony toy if they aren’t going to use her for the cartoon series (other than just to sell toys)?

So, hasbro is making an Alicorn toy just to force DHX to write her out of the show as the main character? Yeah makes sense.

I think she´ll be like that miasmen what Luna had turned evil. A ghost of the past who tries to take over Twi or does take her over simialr to Nighmare Moon.  
Then we would get Terror Sparkle or something like that. Or Terror Nova. XD
 
And then Twi´s friends have to save her/separate those two souls from each other, but that can´t be done since Twi´s the element of Magic and controlled by Sunset Shimmer.  
They then put on those enchanted masks to be able to enter her mind after somehow tricking Terror Sparkle/Nova to also put one on and then they got a whole trip to the past of Sunset and why she became what she is now.
 
At least that´s sounds more awesome than bboifatz´s boring law of balance. As if live ever was balanced. Or society for that matter.

This is a unicorn sold with the other 5 main characters whose name is a copy of Twilight Sparkle. I dond’t say she is going to disappear, but her role in the show is going to chance, and this pony is the candidate to fill that role :/

2 unicorns, 2 pegasi, 2 earth ponies. The gap in the roster for a second unicorn needs to be filled, whether that means introducing a new character or changing Twilight back to normal. I don’t know where this all is going, but they are not done shaking up the status quote and rustling jimmies yet.

Twilight is not going to be replaced.

When the replacement of Twilight was first released I thought I would be mad, but this could be interesting. A graduated student who didn’t turn into a demi-god. Sadly, we must accept toys > canon, after all, Hasbro pays the show writers checks.

Sombra could have been like that, but the writers said that they couldn’t make him as scary as they wanted to. IMO they should have re-worked him into a different archetype instead of being a neutered version of what they originally wanted.
 
If he had sang a spooky song with a pipe organ accompaniment or something like that, bronies would have loved him.

I think Sunset being a slightly more rebelious character than Twilight without being a villain could make for some interesting story opportunities. Having her as an antagonist would be too cliched and we’ve already done that kind of story with Trixie.
 
I think Sunset Shimmer will be a look at what Twilight’s life could have been like if she had done some things differently. Twilight has been fairly content letting Celestia make all the big choices for her, and maybe Sunset Shimmer decided that that kind of life wasns’t for her.

What if the difference between Twilight and Sunset is that Sunset found out she was being groomed to be a princess, and rejected it? It could be interesting to see Twilight meet a character who doesn’t trust all of Celestia’s decisions the way Twilight does.

Don’t get me wrong. I actually like untalkative/right into business villains like Sombra. They’re often the most menacing of villains.

Eh, Sombra didn’t really disappoint me like he did everyone else for some reason. Probably because I was more excited for the 3rd season in general than the next villain.
