Seriously though I was surprised most the characters we thought would be villains(Queen Haven and Phyllis) aren’t actually villains. They’re mostly just misguided and afraid but they don’t want to actively fight and hurt anyone. The actual villain feels like a child who doesn’t know better and thinks violence is the only solution. While the villain side of the movie is definitely not the strongest. It’s nice they don’t really paint anyone as truly evil but just misguided or just immature.

I agree, he’s one of the weakest part of the movie in my opinion

As a villain, Sprout was kinda meh. I think he was more of a satire of Orange Julius Caesar (with the blond mane and less-than-noble mentality).

Not to mention Shrek 2 also has a good amount of pop culture references

Yeah I feel the same way. Would have made a lot more sense if the was pushing him along that path. Not sure where all his motivation suddenly came from. He went from being a lazy deputy to creating an entire army in a few days lol.

That was my first thought too. Though I would have expected her to be the main driving force behind Sprout’s dictatorship. He didn’t strike me as that ambitious.
