Don’t worry. Sometimes we have fireworks at Christmas.
On Thursday, January 7, traditionally, a festive Christmas fireworks will be launched in Krasnoyarsk. The press service of the Krasnoyarsk diocese specified that it will start at seven in the evening, but the launch site remains unknown. This is done in order to avoid a mass gathering of citizens. Apparently, the fireworks will be launched, in fact, for the hero of the occasion, although he did not seem to ask about it.
However, some Krasnoyarsk media are confident that the festive fireworks will be launched on Teatralnaya Square in the city center. But it is not exactly. Last year, fireworks were launched on Tatyshev Island.
Recall that Christmas holiday fireworks in Krasnoyarsk have been launched since 2015 and even the epidemic of coronavirus infection COVID-19 did not interrupt this tradition. And this is good.

Christmas in russia is not celebrated on the same grand scale as the new year. The description says that this is exactly the new year. The question remains, why exactly on January 7?

The fireworks may have been slightly out of alignment. Personally, I prefer the YYYY-MM-DD date format that SQL uses - it works well with ‘sort by name’ on computers :)
 
If this was YY-MM-DD, I could say “2007 January 21? I must have missed the significance of this date!”
 
EDIT:  
I see there’s an Orthodox New Year’s on January 14, but Orthodox Christmas appears to fall on January 7.
 
It’s always possible that they’re celebrating International Programmer’s Day, since that falls on a Jan 7th ;)
