Okay y’all, this discussion has moved beyond being relevant to the image, which is merely noting that the fanfic Past Sins will be ten years old next month. This sort of discussion of merits of it vs the show and of certain characters is much better suited to our forums, particularly the Unpopular Opinion thread in the Pony forums.

Most people will use any excuse to hate on Nyx or Past Sins because “it’s an alicorn oc” or “i hate mary sues”
 
When since Season 1, the show has added at least 3 more alicorns. And despite complaints about the fanfiction writing characters “out of character” it has done a fairly good job at portraying how characters would act in situations before the show did. Things like Zecora being the central storyteller for a Ponyville festival, like Nightmare Night, or how when Twilight is under pressure she fails to inform her mentor out of fear. Which happened in Lesson Zero.
 
That’s not mentioning the whole thing of people slapping her with the term “Mary Sue” while giving Starlight a free pass because “Well Starlight is canon so it’s ok when they do it.”

Lol what’s up with people, this book is amazing! I’ve heard an original hardcover was sold for over 500$ on Ebay. This is my favorite book..

This is very strange allegation considering that Nyx is the only OC with significant fan-base and “Past Sins” is the only English-language fan-fic which I think is real literature.
 

 
In 2021 bronies can’t create anything like that because they lost any sence of MLP itself. In fact they can’t create anything except copying season 1 ideas.
 
And literally everything uses some cliche because cliche works. The only problem it’s not so easy to use it right.
 
And yes “Past Sins” is very close to MLP itself with only few rule changings. In fact it’s MLP Advanced Version.

Its still a good fanfic. In 2021, its laughably cliche but if you know nothing about the Nyx memes its a good fanfic.
