It’s what stereotyping does to a character. I mean every superhero has their era of cheesiness, even Batman, but just because Aquaman didn’t have multiple live action movies but only a really old cartoon to represent him he is not taken as seriously as all the other heroes.

Yeah exactly. In fact I think in the New 52 comics, Aquaman stated he doesnt talk to fish, he simply uses his waves to push the fish from one place to another. (That was a pretty neat book showing Aquaman to be an cool guy with a sad backstory.) He said when talking to some annoying reporter.

I never thoight of Aquaman as a joke and those jokes I find so tiring and superficial. It’s just like how nearly every Fantastic Four meme is about how their movies sucked and never about the FF themselves. No comic book memes or anything like that.

I don’t think people would make those same jokes for Batman or Spiderman.

Every character in the DC universe can be badass, Darkseid as a relentless ruler of Apokolips who cannot be beat so easily, Superman as one of the strongest superheroes with a heart of gold, Batman as the hardened vigilante who is the most broken but has a sense of right and wrong, and Aquaman as the King of Atlantis who earned his rightful place on the throne despite being half-blood and is a caring family man despite being a bit unrelenting sometimes. Is it really hard to admit that one character you thought to be lame is actually pretty awesome and that all the meme-ish jokes about him being boring and useless are actually outdated?

Yeah, true. Darkseid is a beast. I mean, it says a lot when he can face Thanos will all six Infinity Stones and still somehow win the match

If they really want to use a character as a yardstick for how epic a character can be, they should use Darkseid.

Yeah, that’s why Aquaman is actually a really cool hero. A lot of people underestimate his powers and only based him on the cheesy Superfriends show. In both the animated series and the live action movies, he is like one of the coolest superheroes. Even before Jason Momoa portrays him, the Justice League animated series already had that bearded, buff, King of The Sea look with a freaking hook for a hand. It’s like the predecessor of that Aquaman, yet I’ve never seen people make mention of that Aquaman very much. So many times it’s proven Aquaman is actually awesome and people just ignore them. Have I mentioned Aquaman can punch Superman in the face?
