in the end I will judge the g5 as its own thing to know if it is totally for me or not, I say it has its things that I like like izzy but it has things that I clearly do not like because apart from leaving everyone in the epilogue in a bad way I feel that if she wants but at the same time she doesn’t want to depend on fim and doesn’t let her be free

I don’t know what my reaction is, it’s not like I started saying “insert the most discriminating insults you can think of” to whoever likes the G5 because that would be nonsense and it would mean ignoring things they taught us our favorite characters, apart from that it would be immature, but it’s a shame to think that hasbro always falls back on the same stone over and over again
the g4 triumphed because it was not a sequel to anything, but was its own thing, its own everything and only made references not linked to previous generations (tirek, twilight velvet, surprise applejack, grogar, etc)

apart from another note of mine, clearly the g4 is not going to take away the existence of the g5 because it is still there, it is not like FIM ceased to exist, it is just a complaint that the best that hasbro can offer to replicate the success of the previous series is to hang on to it and at the same time it makes the protagonists of that one look bad so that the new ones shine because “this time they will do it well”

One, he was obviously not losing his shit, and Two, every person in almost every fandom has a gripe somewhere about an issue with a show, and many are way less calm then him.

Three, changing its cast is one thing. That isn’t the issue. The issue is that they made it so the entire G4 storyline leads to everything falling apart offscreen, meaning beloved characters achieved stuff that quickly turned to dust. Not exactly a pleasant idea, and definitely worth talking about.

If G5 simply existed in a brand new world and continuity, that would be fine.

I’m still not pleased about all the awful decisions made in Alien 3, and a lot of horrible movies and movie sequels. It doesn’t effect me in any way in my personal life, but if I’m in a situation where its issues come up in a discussion, I’m obviously going to list my personal gripes with it.

Its an opinion after all. It doesn’t magically go away after a few years at the behest of people with the different opinion. That applies to a lot of things in literally EVERY fandom.

Unless you’ve never seen a bad movie with good potential, a bad show with good potential, or you’ve never seen a bad sequel, then your comment makes no sense.

Gmaplay is being very calm and rational about his dislike for the current narrative, and how its been a pattern with Hasbro.

I mean….the Live action Transformers movie, especially after 1, are well known train wrecks and almost universally disliked, and the GI Joe movies didn’t do so well either.

He’s not being rude or overzealous about it either. His comments are civil and measured, and express his disgust at a “rocks fall, everybody dies” sort of epilogue for G4 when it comes to G5.

He’s making it very clear that he wants to discuss the above image and keep in topic, which is the fate of G4, and that the writing is, well, not exactly very good.

You make it sound like its shocking to hear anyone have disgust for a writing move within MLP. As long as he’s being perfectly civil and rationale, his comment is perfectly normal. Your reaction you chose seems kind of ill fitting, as if he was overreacting when he really wasn’t.

It’s not really “anger”, it’s really annoyance, simply because both as a fan and as a consumer of a product or a franchise, it bothers me when this type of decision is made, which is always summed up in a “look, we make a series dear and then we tell him in the face to the fans that 10 years of that series they followed and loved has been destroyed in favor of the next series or generation “
If I were to go I would be making 20,000 posts on this page and everywhere to complain about the G5 and doing a “save MLP, do the FIM finale again”

I mean, they spent nearly a decade on G4, it brought in countless fans, and now, everything set up in G4 is gone and worse then it ever was in the G5 timeskip, and its possible things fell apart not long after G4.

Well, according to the Fictional Chronology from the wiki page, G5 might be set in the same world featured in Friendship is Magic and Pony Life, but jump ahead in time to focus on a new generation of ponies and unexplored corners of Equestria. But that doesn’t mean that G5 can be a sequel to either Friendship Is Magic, Pony Life, or maybe both. Think back at how the Beast Era is set in the same world featured in the Transformers G1 cartoons and anime and the G1 Marvel and Dreamwave Comics but not a direct sequel to any G1 media in Transformers G1 or set in any Transformers G1 media. So I think it maybe possible that My Little Pony G5 is not a direct sequel to any G4 media or set in any G4 media but with elements and facets from G4.

This movie was set in the distant future that happens after the events of the G4 Franchise! And some mysterious new villain has replaced friendship and harmony with paranoia and mistrust! I hope the new main cast of G5 would stop this new villain from causing this and make everything back to normal by breaking the new villain’s evil spell!
