Considering that we’re dealing with a bigot, I’d say conduct.
Striker’s rant was about appearances. I’d have liked to counter him with a photo album of how deformed and mangled humans can become and still survive.
The bottom line is there’s appearance and then there’s conduct. Which is more important to being human?
Anyway, he does make a fine point though. Exactly how is a blue skinned girl consider a normal human. Unless this is Doug, I have to call bull on the humanization.
And the Titanium spines the girls have to support them.
(don’t hit me, don’t hit me!)
Maybe it’s to appeal to kids because it’s colorful and bright or maybe it’s so that they won’t have to assign ethnic groups to ponies that had none.
I still remember those shitstorms about humanized Twilight’s skin color even though there is no right skin color because she’s pony.
Yeah, I forgot about the impossibly large breasts.
The most anatomically correct anime’s I’ve seen is Cromartie High School and JoJo’s bizarre adventure.
Probably because it’s not like our own world.
We don’t know if this world has magic or not, but the whole “just make them the color of their pony coat” thing just strikes me as “we’re scared what would happen if we made them actually look like humans.”
Anime only has anatomically correct humans about 1/3 the time.
If they want anatomically correct cartoon humans than they might as well watch DC/Marvel cartoons or Anime.
True, Cartoons don’t have to follow anatomy logic.
If they complain about skin color being weird than they should complain why ponies are multicolored even though there are no blue horses in real life.
Hypocrisy I suppose.
big head are better to show reaction face clearly because they gives lot of working space for face animation.
Yeah, real ponies look nothing like the ones in MLP.
But LPS is an attempt to relaunch two separate, completely unrelated toylines with the same show. That’s why all the humans have such massive heads.
At least they don’t have tiny legs. I like legs…
Hey mlp is small time compared to lps.
Big heads are used universally in cartoons to imply youth.
Please, you could be getting this:
Well yeah, that goes without saying. They are of fairly normal looking height by cartoon characters, but it’s mostly legs and their torsos are microscopic.
They were clearly designed by toy makers and not animators:
Big head = more hair play for kids
Tiny torso = less material to pay for when manufacturing outfits
Long legs = the toy is still tall enough to get little girls’ attention when it’s on the toy shelf alongside the likes of Barbie
Well, it depends if you are a leg-man.
