Season 3 was a clear dip in quality for the show. I hope it can bounce back, but of the 13 episodes there were only a handful that I actually wanted to go back and re-watch. Also, the season finale was shit. The finale had some good songs, but none of them were as good as “At the Gala,” and the episode itself was poorly written and rushed. And if we compare it to A Canterlot Wedding, you almost have to wonder “WTF happened to this show?”
 
I really hope season 4 can bring us back to where we were in Season 2 in terms of quality, but that is not going to happen if Hasbro doesn’t give the writers a free hand with minimal corporate mandates.

Frankly, these results are a bit saddening to me. Sooner rather than later, I’m going to fall so far out of sync with the bulk of the fandom as to lose interest in fanworks ._.

I thought it was a fair song because back then it was the only harmonic Pinkie song, i used to think she sucked at songs.

Season 2 had pretty flagrant duds, but it also had some really awesome episodes that made up for the duds.
 
Season 1 was pretty good throughout, but formulaic. This is understandable since it was Season 1, but it’s a little hampering in comparison to later, where they toy with the formula.
 
Season 3 was… okay. It had two flagrant duds, two mediocre duds, three really enjoyable episodes, and average everything else. It’s a decent season, but its shorter length makes its duds stand out more due to not having as many chances to make up for them.

What can I say other than I didn’t like it? The message was sweet, but my main problem is that they never showed Tank again. Even when they showed RD’s house, they never showed him.

Find a pet was like the first(only?)duet in the series, and the harmony of the song is at the same scale as “Smile”  
I also thought the message was the sweetest in the series.
 
There isn’t such thing as filler on MLP, but if it had, it would certainly not be this one.

It has by far, without contest, the least memorable song in the entire series and we don’t even see the character the whole episode was about after it for a season and a half.
 
It’s the closest a FiM episode has ever gotten to feeling like “filler” to me. Not to mention that there are episodes that explore Fluttershy/RD’s relationship waaaaaay better.

Season 1 felt more magical, mostly because it was the start of everything and no expectations
 
Season 2 had better episodes and characterization
 
I didn’t see season 3 yet but it looks by far the season with best plot development.
 
There were episodes of season 1 and 2 that i disliked but i rather not mention it out loud.

The second half of S2 for me, barring a few episodes, was just “okay.” S3 did much better, but that’s just my opinion.

Plus they show was still getting out of the crutch of the “all laugh, fade to black” ending during S2, was it used at all in S3?

Eh this is why I dislike season 3 was only half as long. It didn’t get as much time to shine so thus it’s gonna inherently be seen as a “weak” season by some fans. Still surprised to see it kinda beat out season 1 in this poll. I do get the feeling season 2 had a lot of fan favorites, and I’ll admit A Canterlot Wedding is still my favorite season finale (Best Night Evert being the worst, it was too dull aside from some select moments, and while I agree season 3’s finale should have been a two parter at least it still turned out pretty good for a 21 min ep).

The only thing wrong with S3, I think, is that we have become a bunch of cynical bastards who like to stir up drama based on episode synopsis instead of the actual episode.

It’s really weird to see S2 gets so many votes. I remember it only has like 5 episodes that stand out: Discord, Lesson Zero and Canterlot Wedding.
