It only gets backlash because bronies hate straight couples. Yuri/Yaoi runs rampant in this fandom.

Funny…I don’t even ship this myself, but I still really never had much of an issue with it, nor do I really think it deserves any of the backlash it gets.
 
We’ve never been given much of an idea of the connection between him and flueur and so long as Rarity is a consenting adult, the age gap shouldn’t be much of a problem. I’ve seen much steeper age gaps between happy couples irl .
 
I really don’t see how he’s a womanizer either. By all accounts, he’s the stallion rarity always wanted and objectively speaking this is more plausible than any of the mane six ships involving her (and it’s no secret I ship the hell out of raridash).
 
But yeah, opinion and whatnot.

I feel like I’m in the minority when I headcanon Fancy Pants and Fleur de Lis in a very loving and long-established marriage…
