Seth got the OK from Hasbro to write about his experience at the Coronation concert event, and he gave a very vague, NDA-friendly blurb about the episode. He liked it, although he got to see it without commercials and he said it’s something that needs to be seen in a single sitting (presumably, he is implying that it needs to be seen without commercial breaks), and that it’s a very densely-packed episode for 22 minutes.

That’s my biggest reservation about Alicorn Twilight. I don’t hate the idea, but from what has been revealed it seemingly has nothing to do with the cutie mark swap story that’s been previewed so far. I’m afraid what should have been two separate stories are going to be mashed together in a way that feels awkward and forced.
 
Switching cutie marks is an interesting idea, and Alicorn Twilight is an interesting idea. But you don’t automatically get PB&J just by sticking two good things together.

This episode is going to be cram-packed enough as it is. Even the people who saw the finale already and liked it have said it’s a very condensed episode, so I doubt there will be room for a villain.

I’m still kinda confused how the whole switch destinies thing leads to being an Alicorn princess. Twilight screws up with her magic and zaps everyone’s life around… making her and Alicorn and getting herself crowned? Why would they bother crowning her if putting everyone’s destinies back to normal would make Twi a unicorn again, or do they plan to just leave everyone with mismatched destinies? That dosen’t seem right.
 
And I’m still hoping for a surprise villain, like in Canterlot Wedding.
