Alrighty, ladies and gents, if ya wanna know my two cents on the topic of ‘Redemption’ then settle on down and lend me your ears. The Season 9 finale of MLP left my eyebrow raised quite extensively, yet also satisfied me, too. I’m glad that the trio didn’t get the silly, last minute redemption that LOTS of kid show villains get, but at the same time I found one thing a touch confusing: all three of them (Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis) were on the verge of redemption. Their arcs and development with each other was leaning towards an actually satisfying redemption story. So… when they were turned to stone I wasn’t upset or anything, but I was also puzzled.
absence of confirmation is not negation, just because it doesn’t show them doesnt mean they were not reformed, it just means they wanted to leave it open ended, its like shrodinger’s cat, they are at once reformed and imprisoned at once till someone opens the box (that is to say till the comics, the movie or another official cannon source says otherwise in an irrefutable fassion)
They wanted Sombra dead yet he came back. They probably wanted the other three dead and the series finale confirms that the three are never released from their stone prison even after the events of the last problem. Face it. They will never be freed or reformed. They are trapped forever.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but as that road IS obscured in fog
and you dont have a map anymore then we do, then you are ALSO guessing
ergo, you are no more correct in your assumption then we are, so dont get on a high horse just yet
Well I dunno man, if they wanted those characters dead they probably would have just killed them like Sombra. But whatever there’s not point trying to change your mind since you’ve got your view and I’ve got mine.
The road will go where the designer intended it to go.
It doesn’t matter that I can’t see it, or I may want to imagine it goes a certain way. The actual shape of the road is not up to me.
I fully support anyone who wants to write a fanfiction or comic that makes their own road, but this road does not go in that direction.
If you see a road going perfectly straight and leading into a thick fog, do you assume the road is gonna keep going straight or is it up to the imagination to decide?
You’re more than welcome to hang on to that as a means of your own headcanon.
I’m just saying that unless the comics retcon it, that’s clearly not what happens or the intention behind their prison.
You can see it your way I can see it mine. Everybody wins

No, it just means that we never saw the statue because there was no reason to see the statue.
“And this Luster Dawn, is where I keep the petrified remains of my enemies and all those who dair to defy me, so don’t you dare go Sunset Shimmer on me.”
The clear implication is that it’s meant to be forever. Anything else is wishful thinking.
Okay sure he said that as a joke, but that not a defiant statement saying they were very released or reformed. We do t see the statue in the future or anything like that.
I suppose like many things they left it open for fan interpretation
Discord: “Togethor FOREVER. I can’t think of anything they’d want less.”
Yeah, no. Somehow I doubt a release plan is what they had in mind.
um no it doesnt…if anything it implies they might have, the statue is never shown in the future shots.
I doubt it, looks at the Daring Do episode
I like to think that they got the discord treatment after being turned to stone, it was discord who suggested it after all

cozy: I thought if i had all the power, i could make everyone love me…but they didnt…now…now i understand.
scorpan: come on brother, its time to come home…we’ve missed you…you don’t have to prove anything to me.
chrysalis: i wh…how did this happen ** pharanx (sp) You just needed someone to understand you, perhaps more then you understood yourself come on let us protect the hive together, you can teach us so much…
the rest was likely there wasnt enough time, it would have taken 2 or 3 more focused epiosdes on them to really do a redemption justice for them and with the series ending…maybe we will see them brought to the light in the comics?
