I would say that Ember might have should have talked with her dad about this, but I can’t imagine it would have gone much better.

My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

This is hilarious, though not even Ember can make a beret work.
 
And ‘banish your mother’? Torch, not even Chinese or Roman emperors could get away with that. You don’t stand a chance.
