What do you mean? Alot of people know about that game. It got a boost of popularity after being released on WiiiU.
Actually had freedom planet remained a sonic fan game, people might actually know about it since Sega tends to hire on and promote fan projects.
Yeah, I assume that’s why Hasbro C&D’d it. I understand that upset some, but I can sort’ve understand why Hasbro would do that, as they wanted to protect their brand, and the artwork looked too much like an official product.
It’s better off being it’s own brand.
I don’t think a lot of people outside of the fandom will be playing it.
Also maybe a Straight up fighting game probably isn’t the best being for a show about friendship
Especially, when Lauren Faust herself offered to design new characters for them.
Imagine if “Freedom Planet” stayed a Sonic fan-game, or if “Retro City Rampage” stayed an NES style GTA fangame? They wouldn’t be the classic indies they are now.
As I recall the developers didn’t Seem to actually be upset when it happened
And now as an Indie game, and it’s own series. it might come to consoles too.
And in an ironic twist, it allows it to address more mature themes, speak directly to the mature fanbase, and since it started AS a game, is an indie title that counts as a “game before anything else”.
I think it’s better with it’s own new characters then MLP ones honestly.
The reason the original game got C&D was we because it was at EVO in 2013, now in 2020 it’s in EVO again but can’t be C&D this time because Hasbro can’t do anything. That’s the joke.
Really if the game stay fighting Is magic it probably wouldn’t have a life outside of the fandom.
also maybe a fighting game is not the best type of game for MLP
I’m not sure why Hasbro would cry tears of nit C&D’ing it, I interpretted the joke differently, like the image was implying Hasbro should’ve supported the original Pony fighting game, and could’ve profited off it, if they worked with it’s staff.
Though, personally, I’m kinda glad for the C&D, because now it can be it’s own new Indie series, and Faust still contributed to it.
Edited
I probably should end this conversation but for the most part I meant one game is not going to get hasbro crying
Shame, ’cause Wayforward (Shantae, Contra 4, Ducktales Remastered) voiced interest in making a MLP:FIM game years back.
Right, but they have licensed out their properties to make games of them. FIM happened to be one they completely refused to do anything with beyond a phone game that hardly counts as a game.
I meant I don’t think they directly make video games and even if they did they are a toy company first
Well, there’s the “Hasbro Gaming” division, but that mostly deals with board games.
Yup…
True, I guess I’d rather get more characters, and stages then playing online against ridiculously good players. lol
I’m not bad at SSBU, but I swear some online players aren’t human.
Because the roster and stages came first.
In fairness, I hear Sakurai does want to fix it in future updates.
I know people like to rag on Nintendo’s online, but honestly some of their games like “Mario Kart” & “Splatoon” work great on it, so it is curious why SSB has so many issues.
