Wait. Rarity never treated him like a crap the only reason why she never responded to him in that loving way the way he did was because he was just a child.

Spike superfans tend to place themselves in his shoes. They ignore who he is and picture how they would feel in his place, knowing what they do. Spike superfans are basically metagamers.
@Cosmas-the-Explorer Of course, Spike is a goddamned gentledrake. He’s take her out even if he didn’t feel the same way, because he wants her to be happy.

She never really treated him like crap though. Every time Spike was in danger was in trouble, she showed genuine concern for him (ie: Crystal Empire & Dragon Heart). She literally intended to throw down with a dragon to protect Spike.
I know a lot of people who constantly point to him having to carry Rarity’s luggage, but really, he does that if his own volition. Rarity never has him do anything he’s not comfortable with.

If he wants to help, not allowing him to would be treating him like crap. We know for a fact she could handle that with her magic. We’ve seen Sweetie Belle handle that much and more by herself. He offers because he wants to look strong and useful to her. She accepts because when somepony offers to perform a feat of devotion to you, you don’t reject that.

Hilarious, but in Rarity’s defense, she never treated him like crap. After all, he was her “Spikey-wikey”.

Or it could be a metaphor for a friend hanging out with another friend. I guess different interpreations can apply.

But even if it were a metaphor for breakups it would most certainly not be a Sparity killer. In fact it might be a Sparity enhancer because Rarity might start to treat Spike more like a mature and free entity who can think independently. So they can later on see each other as equals if they get older instead of Spike just being am admirer of Rarity.

@Beau Skunky
Exactly! Sure, Rarity is no stranger to using her feminine charms to get Spike to do what she wants, but more often than not, she doesn’t have to. In fact, she treats Spike quite well, sometimes even rewarding him for his efforts. Compared to how Twilight used to treated Spike, Rarity is a freaking saint!

Also, on a side note, I never understood why people called ‘Dragon Dropped’ a Sparity-killer. If anything, it was all about Rarity realizing how much she really enjoys Spike’s company, but also having to learn to respect his right to hang out with other friends.

When a tweenish looking male courts a twenty-something looking female, it’s cute. If she reciprocates, regardless of actual age (we have no idea what their ages are because there is no show bible, no timescale, no attempt at consistency) that gives the appearance of statutory, which is a crime.

She never actually did. In fact, for the age difference, she probably gave him a little bit too much attention. But people self insert hard with Spike, and want him taken seriously despite, you know, that being a crime.

I’m not exactly sure when, or how Rarity ever treated Spike like crap.

Some fans exaggerate that, because she sometimes has him help her with chores, (so fans make Rarity out to be a “slaver”) but knowing Spike he probably insists on helping her most of the time.
SemiJuggalo

Even though I’m a Sparity shipper, I’ve never been blind to the age gap being a major factor keeping them apart. However, I’m not exactly sure when, or how Rarity ever treated Spike like crap.
