It’s just a security protocol stating that they will have tested the validity of the vaccine prior to distribution on American soil. Doesn’t mean they’ll create their vaccine.
VF:
Maybe for other countries, but based on whats listed in the approval process for a vaccine on the CDCs website, the US does not appear to be interested in that. We more than likely do not want it being stolen by an adversary.
a vaccine must be scientifically validated by many laboratories around the world.
if it is not the case its so-called validity can be just harmful in the long run.
allow the disease to grow stronger and become more dangerous is the scenario we want to avoid.
(Life evolves and adapts thanks to these survivors.)
VF:
They can validate the vaccine if they want to, but once ours is completed, we’ll do our own tests and proceed.
@proto29
At this point I don’t trust any new vaccine.
We’ll see, but I’m not sure it’s 2021.
the announcements we have had so far are political steps. (from the pub)
we need a scientific consensus. (that several labs around the world validate the vaccine)
VF:
that’s a big phrase for someone in booping distance
6 foot minimum distance! :0
Yeah I guess I am wrong about where I heard that. According to this it can survive 3 hours in its aerosol form but potentially longer into days on surfaces like plastic or cardboard. Not an issue though, just wash your hands as usual as you shouldn’t be relying on it decaying to stay safe anyways in a public area.
well okay then, wash your hooves regularly and carry around a portable fan
Virulence is assessed at 1 person, contaminating about 3 people on average.
The most important thing was to stay at a respectable distance to avoid broadcast.
So when you see who people are spitting in their faces over toilet paper.
All this has a purpose though, avoided overloading the hospitals.
it’s people at risk who die.
of this big flu, it’s 3x more dangerous but that’s it.
The weakest suffer the unconsciousness of assholes as always.
what we can say is that nothing was planned in this situation.
Just old protocol not openers, still happy that the virus is no more dangerous.
VF:
I read 3 DAYS. But only on surfaces like plastic and metal. So shops which are full of plastic packaging are gonna be the best place to pick up the virus.
The virus can only survive for around 3 hours on most surfaces from what I’ve heard, so it’s not that bad. It’s hard to say how long air would be contaminated as it depends on the air currents. If you think about it like someone spraying a bunch of mist into the air it’ll all float around and eventually land on some surface so depending on how well the place is ventilated that’ll affect how fast it gets out of the air.
granny smith has already succumbed,
did not take unnecessary risks.
okay yeah that’s true. maybe surfaces aren’t as dangerous as I was implying. but the density of airborne droplets rapidly decreases too, as they spread out and land on surfaces. how long after a sneeze would the air be contaminated? I agree that anyone coughing or sneezing should be far away from other people if possible, and wearing a mask.
I’m pretty sure this is a little backwards. Coronavirus isn’t technically transmitted airborne (i.e., freefloating viruses), but primarily by (airborne) droplets and secondarily by droplet-contaminated surfaces. However, while a few viruses can and do survive for a day or even longer on various surfaces, their contagiousness rapidly drops off, because it normally takes a lot of individual viruses to effectively infect someone, and most of the viruses tend to die off pretty quickly (following a roughly exponential curve). Touching something someone sneezed on ten minutes ago is far riskier than touching something someone sneezed on a day ago.

after. after you take the mask off.
the best strategy is not to let anyone sneeze at you, by staying at home.
