honestly. i don’t get the black rarity thing. i could see twilight or rainbow or maybe even applejack as being colored
 
but rarity?… i just do’t get it.
 
her parents are clearly meant to be scandinavian mid westerns. she clearly has a very english accent( presumably she made it up or spent a lot of time with other family members with that accent) and is most importantly, she is literally the white.
 
it’s not that i dislike characters being black but it just seems like people are trying to be edgy and pc even when it doesn’t make sense.

Look at Shy, she doesn’t want to be there and is actually trying to pull down the shirt to hide. That’s why she’s crying.
 
Rainbow is simply giving her moral support there. Like a “See? It isn’t that bad!” kinda thing

This is exactly how I always saw it in my head. The Earth ponies being the biggest and strongest. The Pegasi being the smallest and lightest weight. And the Unicorns being thin but more in the middle height wise. Cool to see so many others thinking the same way.

I always imagined Applejack being a big girl.  
RD as the shortest is believable, it help being short and lightweighted to be an agile flyier.
