The twist: This is just for show; the dragons are all actually alive and comfortably supported on the other side of the wall. The plaques are only there to cover the holes in the wall, are split down their centers along the grain lines, and just snap into the holes.

Also, even if they were all dead, I’m sure Cassie could have been put to work as a housekeeper.
