OK, now it’s getting picky, sure, it is a word for word dialogue rip. I got nothing.
Lifting dialogue word for word is plagiarism. Borrowing visual cues and themes is not.
If they’d lifted the John Williams music and/or costumes, then it’d be plagiarism. Such as it is, it’s just another scene borrowing from Triumph Des Willens.
Oh come on. It’s a homage or whatever you want to call it. It’s an original story in an original setting. If I made a film that was set in space and featuref an identical premise, that’s plagarism.

Whatever, just see the thing for itself.
There’s a big difference between merely referencing something (which itself was already inspired by another thing), and just lifting dialogue and scenes wholesale.

Sure, the show did it too! In the S2 opener the ending ceremony is shot for shot based on Star Wars.
Like it’s not even putting a spin on it, they just say it word for word.
Ey man, Star Wars is a massively iconic series that many other series reference. I think I heard something about Monthy Python being refrenced a lot too. It’s just inescapable in media, I suppose, since it features so many tropes that become standard issue.

Because The IDW comics aren’t very original and the show had already referenced Star Wars a few times by this point.
