Actually the lesson was that Discord thought that if he could use Fluttershy’s kindness as a shield to stop the mane six from turning him back into stone again then he could do as he pleases.
Fluttershy eventually realized what Discord was really up to and threatened to end her friendship with him if he really hasn’t changed at all and threw down her ice stakes.
It was at that point that Discord finally realized the true value of friendship and knew that he risked losing Fluttershy as a friend if he kept up his old tricks. So he finally returned everything back to normal and reformed himself.
He still hates Angel through.
That little shit’s pure evil so it’s no wonder Discord doesn’t like him.
“This is Discord. Ice skates make me cry.”
…Because it happened so soon? Is that why?
Yes. This. He wanted Fluttershy to do it of her own accord…but when she refused, it hurt. I love how Discord looked genuinely wounded a few times in this episode. It’s easy to dismiss as him just playing one of his games, at first…
There was a Q episode in ST:TNG along those lines. The Q continuum have the power to make people do things against their own will…but it feels terribly empty. It’s just more fulfilling when someone makes their own choice to do something. It makes things genuinely fun.
I love this episode the more I watch it. :)
Oh believe me, a lot of people caught the symbolism, it’s just that a lot of people are still coming back the wave of feels.
He looks back at the skis and realized he could do whatever he wanted but nopody would want to do it with him, lonliness.
I was wondering how the heck he was going to be reformed. But then this. The fact he’d lose the only friend he ever had because he wanted to be selfish and cause chaos.
