Eh, basically the ad is lower quality than the show is intended to be. The show is inspired by older Chibi-series, like the ATLA chibi series, or even the ATOT chibi series. The animation is a chibi mixed with elements of the LPS series, and is meant to be warmer, less story focused show compared to what Season 10 will be in comics.
Basically, it is a warm and fluffy stopgap show to prepare us for a new gen.
While heavily implicit, it’s not concrete. At least not to me, but I didn’t go all-in on the article yet. ^w^
Best guess is that the press release is closer to the final animation. The toy commercial animation is either just low quality or perhaps even done by…was it Cakepop? Hasbro’s ad company, same folks who did the cgi pinkie series.
