I was looking back at the Mixed 6 (Student 6 or Young 6 but older, if you have a better name, LMK) and honestly, it was expected. It looked more or less like they stretched the characters like taffy and changed at least 1 thing in their appearance. Now I don’t mind it at all really, I do like it. It fit my expectations on what the characters would look like, but my only issue is Gallus. They. Did. Nothing. They just slapped on royal guard armor on him and got the VA to say 4 words. While it is cool to see Gallus rise to the rankings of “Royal Guard”, It doesn’t look like he did in the visual sense. So, I made my own Older Gallus to see what he would look like based on my thoughts.
First thing I thought about was his height. Based on all the griffons I’ve seen in the show they all, and this is just me, they ALL have the same height. Now, looking at all the other species in the show like the ponies (obviously) and the dragons, there is a noticeable height difference based on age, build, and gender. I thought “Whose to say that griffons can’t be taller”? And that’s what I did. In my design, He is taller than ponies, Changelings, and Yaks. For dragons, it depends, but he is still shorter than hippogriffs and Twilight after getting the Celestia Treatment.
Then I worked on his face. The one thing that I noticed was his beak was the exact same size. That made me ask “why”? I looked over at Silverstream (it terrifies me how tall hippogriffs, in general, are let alone her) and saw that her beak was stretched out from her face, thus sticking out more. I was going to do that, but I then decided to make his whole beak longer and a bit bigger. Other things I did was make his neck longer and fluffier. add another feather to his head (Not shown on this image), make his wings bigger to accommodate for his larger size and that is my redesign.
tl;dr I redesigned Gallus, made him taller, longer beak, longer neck, and wider wingspan.
This was more for fun than it is for anything more serious than that.

your current filter.I assumed that Grandpa Gruff was “average adult male gryphon” size, and that’d be the size that Gallus would eventually be, considering he’s already as large as adult female gryphons as a teenager.
