You only provoke people to an even bigger discussion. This is not a peaceful resolution to the conflict, it is more like a provocation. It’s better to disperse peacefully, where everyone remains unconvinced.
Moreover, the artist himself wished that there were no such disputes that were not related to the picture itself, so be it.

All the same, all these disputes have no meaning.
I can picture Dashie saying “Seriously? Discord, stop making fanfiction, you suck at it!” I understand where you’re coming from with the “real fan” thing. I don’t like pulling No True Scotsman. But sometimes (though it is very rare) there can be objectivity.

This could seem like some elitism thinking (“you are not a real fan” kind of deal) and I don’t like that but I still stand by what I said there, as I still think that explains it to some extent.
I’ve seen quite a few very-deeply-attached-to-characters-fans who didn’t like the time skip.
Guess there’s just different kinds of fans and there’s nothing wrong with that either.

This piece of art is absolutely brilliant and captures what I was thinking, in a snarky way.
Personally I think it’s a nice mane, I just don’t see her having it all of the time. Dashie definitely still plays it fast and loose.
I agree with you that people can’t always be good friends who stay together all the time, and no one lives forever is a natural law. But should they really bring reality into MLP? It’s a fairy world, why should end in this way? Let them “live happily together since then” is more proper to end a fairy tale.
It kinda reminds me a bit of that too. Heck, I don’t even like the CMC’s canon cutie marks myself but I’m not gonna deny that it’s canon.
That being said, I think we should keep the comments appropriate to the image to respect the artist and their wishes.
