As many stories about Anansi depict him as a man with spider like appearance I decided that an MLP version should be a hooved animal with the same qualities. I went with an antelope because they are small and easy to depict with a more tribal appearance. A great piece of inspiration for this version of Anansi was that partially animated fable “A Story, A story,” in which Anansi is a thin, spider-like old man that weeves webs. Somehow, this idea encouraged me to make his MLP representation literally have the stories, or pictures for said stories anyway, in his web. The pictures in the web, if you look close enough, actually depict the other creatures in this book, different MLP characters, pop culture, different mythologies I didn’t depict and blogs I follow on tumblr. Which ones you might ask? I’ll get back to you on that on my tumblr.
