gen x are the millennials, not the gen y
EDIT: nvm I was confused, my bad
Edited
Ah.
it’s less likely to pass on your genes. if you even care about that. it’s only unlucky if you have a strong interest in strengthening your family line. getting 3 boys married is a lot more challenging than 3 girls.
if you just… I dunno… don’t care who reproduces, then it’s no problem at all.
Okay then. And how exactly is it bad lucky if you have 3 boys?
no, it’s literally 1 kid per adult. 3 adults, 3 kids.
if you want to talk about average birth rate of the whole population, rather than just 3 people, then you might use this chart.
That’s your opinion.

in terms of reproductive success, having three boys is actually pretty unlucky. just about every girl will pass their genes on to the next generation, but for a lot of guys it’s just genetic suicide.
or maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better about it.
@Brony kaiju soldier
I am gen x and nobody ever loved me. so between me and your parents, that’s 1 kid per adult.
She was lucky. Could have been three girls!
(Both my boomer mom and my boomer neighbors had 3 and 4 boys respectively, and both said boys are easier to raise than girls. Potential sample size and other biases not accounted for, I am not a genderologist, no purchase necessary, terms and conditions apply.)
My mom is gen x and she had three boys.
the 60’s was also when the uh, birth control pill started being sold, and when the copper iud was invented.
gen x, gen y and gen z are roughly the same post-birth-control sized population. but gen x directly followed the boomers, so there were many more “boomer” adults of birthing age then. that means generation x was a huge dip in reproduction, and the low rates after that were partially due to how the fertile population already tanked.
that’s why gen x is said to be “living in the shadow of the boomers.” because there’s so few of them, compared to their parents. millenials at least weren’t outnumbered by their parents. and zoomers aren’t outnumbered by their grandparents.
Someone just got /destroyed/
I’ll get the gun
she’s retarded
I do enjoy that type of interaction, if someone can ponify that clip of the toddler trying to figure out a Nintendo Gameboy that would be cool.
Happens to all of us.
I leave for one day.
I am going to bow out of it entirely. I have gone from being level headed to actually becoming real-life angry with these people; best I just step away before I start to throw vulgar insults and regret it later.
Move it there to be safe. This comment section is derailed enough already.

Thank you and sorry for this insane derail but I’m really hoping this is over now.
As for the other person being a dick…. I could have missed something in this mess but I fail to see anything they said that was out of line or unreasonable. It all sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Scientific labels exist for good reason, especially when we’re talking about anthropology and archaeology. It only gets annoying when people misuse or abuse information.
Suppose you go to ancestry.com and find out you’re 95% French and 5% African. Those are two different groups of people, they exist, or existed. Look deeper and you can find out specifically what ethnicity those ancestors might have been, what their culture was, exactly what kind of genetics you have and from what specific groups of people came together in a specific region and when.
Those are groups that you are associated with, whatever they may be. No one’s saying any of these groups are inferior in some way, they just exist. If we stopped making labels and organizing people into groups, we wouldn’t know what the fuck anything is ever. It’s not wrong or tacky for us to study this, it’s the pursuit of knowing what this world is.
That’s different from ideas of segregation like you seem to be thinking of. When a society says black people are not allowed to drink from the same water fountain as white people, that’s them imposing a bullshit law that makes no sense, that as based entirely on a racist cultural attitude towards that kind of people - hell go even farther in history and you would find racists who would try to argue that black people aren’t even people, and compare them to lesser animals. But the fact of the matter is….black people exist. That’s obviously not what they’re scientifically called, but that’s a group of people that is real, they exist. How they are treated in whatever region or time period they’re in depends on society and whether or not it sucks.
What really makes good people in a modern society is when we decide to /stop caring/ about these differences of group association, and instead care that they are people. People like you. People who could be your coworker, your boss, your friend, your spouse, just like any other person. Good people don’t care about any of that bullshit, they just go about living their lives. Bad people care a lot, they see someone associated with a group, and they hate them because they hate that group. Those bad people, are stupid, and act without logic or reason. Scientists label groups because they acknowledge that a thing exists, and then moves on, because real scientists typically don’t care either - not unless their job specifically requires them to look into a specific group of people further, for what ever reason they were told to.
@Skoon
This makes absolutely no sense to me. You can disagree with what the word millennial typically implies, but those implications are mostly from bad media and dumb memes. The actual definition is literally “someone reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century”. By that definition…..you are a millennial. That’s what you find in a dictionary. You don’t have to “fight the validity” of that term when it exists literally to say just your general age-bracket. You validate it by EXISTING.
Slang and stereotypes are different and bullshit and it’s perfectly reasonable to be angry with them. That’s shit you find in an /urban/ dictionary. That’s when society takes a legitimate word, and bastardizes it in some way. It’s that version of the word that you should have a problem with - the meme version. The legit version applies to you though.
Actually hell, even looking through urban dictionary, their definition is a lot more neutral than I thought it’d be. The main definition is just saying it describes a group of people from either 1991 or 1981 who grew up in a society that was very technology-oriented. Generation Y being influenced heavily by the beginning of the internet and flip-phones, and generation X being influenced by tablets and apps.
