True, but I think intention from the writers count. Twilight wasnt intended to become their successor at that moment in season 4. She is now.
But Twilight got all the Princesses’ magic in season 4’s finale, her mane didn’t stay magical that long.
Yeah, it seems like it is magic level. Honestly, it might just be that this was meant to be a visual representation of Twilight becoming Celestia’s successor. This episode does have a ton of symbolism, and with FiM content fully revealed for 2020 now, this “big” form has yet to make a reappearance.

I thought the height of an alicorn was determined by age.
I guess it’s determined by magic level if she’s already this tall.

The color balance is completely ruined by her new size and shape, specially in the mane. Celestia, Luna/NMM and even cadence all pop out from the environment due to their high contrast and saturation of color, the light purple in twilight’s coat sinks into the background instead.
I can see what you mean she just looked….off
and honestly i don’t like her turning into a pallet swapped Celestia, i feel she should be herself and not literally transform to fit a roll, or maybe i just see it differently
