Ah, right, I had forgotten about Twilight’s parents. I wonder if part of it was because they decided it was weird that the parents would be voiced by Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor, haha
 
And yeah, like you said, with Pip it made sense if his first VA went through puberty and wasn’t able to do the voice anymore. (Hell, just look at how different Sweetie Belle’s and Apple Bloom’s voices are at the beginning of the series compared to the end - especially the former)

Britt McKillip voiced Lyra in A Canterlot Wedding. And they changed Twilight’s parents and Pipsqueak as well, but in Pip’s case, was due to his first VA going through puberty.

Sure, they could have, but I don’t think they ever changed a voice for a non-background pony who was called for in the script. Take Derpy (or, going by the credits, Muffins), for example. Starting with The Last Roundup, she was voiced by Tabitha. Even if Tabitha significantly changed how she did the voice from the original version to the edit, and then from Slice of Life forward, it was still her (because, as was stated at the time, starting with The Last Roundup, she went from being a pony inserted by animators or layout artists to fill out a scene to one specifically called for in the script).
 
Same with Bon Bon - she actually did have a few different voices early on, but starting with Slice of Life, she was always Andrea (and Lyra was Ashleigh, starting with that episode - I don’t remember who played her in A Canterlot Wedding). I could go on, perhaps bring up Twinkleshine and Minuette, but I think the point has been made.
 
And they also showed no desire to recast anybody whose voice actor was unavailable - take the movie characters, or Babs Seed, as an example beyond Twist.

Silver Spoon with an unbrushed, messy mane seems…reaaaally out of character.
 
And did they have to use the ‘nerd’ model for Twist? Poor girl.

It’s like when that Rugrats storyboard artist did that interview about what the babies would look like as adults. Not everyone has to grow up to be fashion models or self-confident hipsters.

Twist somehow grew up to be more awkward. Wonder if she still has the lisp.

Always. Wish we saw those chucklebucks too. But to be fair they have probably been turned to stone as well by this point.
