Depends on the canon/storyline/A.U.

Or that there are apparently 3 Jokers?
The Military can, indeed, Virtue Signal. No one is completely immune to political bias.
However, in this case I’m pretty sure that wasn’t what happen. Rather, the Virtue Signaling of others brought the conversation to such a fever point that the Military issued that warning just in case the incredibly high profile discussion did, indeed, inspire violence. So yeah, back to the MSM and their BS Agenda.
I don’t know what that means.
I agree, and as I said I love that movie, and I would say the same things if wannabe-moral guardians, the right/left media, or whatever were protesting, and demonizing it.
Nooo not the dog!
Villains can be sympathetic, and you can still hate their actions though, and frankly both movies are quite different.
Never said she was, do you ever read posts fully, before lashing out angrily? Also, I don’t think Harley is even in the movie.
Aaaaand, actually Harley has killed before. Look at the “Worst things Harley Quinn has done” video on Youtube.
No, because they were put up to the task, whether they wanted to, or not. I can kinda understand some concern, or dealing some protection in theaters, especially after the “Bane” cosplayer incident during “The Dark Knight Rises” incident, but frankly so far nothing has happened, with, or without the tripled theater security.
You don’t watch alot of classic cinema, or read much literature, do you? There’s stuff way more “realistic & violent” out there, or stuff that practically teaches people how to be “criminals,” that doesn’t get any flack, or drama.
“The Godfather” was a great movie, and it’s main characters were realistic, violent, morally-bankrupt, yet-sympathetic criminals, as well.
Oy vey, why do you guys always have to bring in politics, or make it about “OMG it’s going to make evil, straight, white, people go nuts, and kill!?”
I don’t know any white, or whatever people who want to literally be the Joker, and go on a crime spree.
If somebody wants to do nasty things, there’s something wrong with them already. You really think banning the movie, or whatever is going to save lives?
I’m sure most people didn’t jump to that conclusion, (I sure the hell didn’t) as nothing in the trailers, and such imply such, and so far there haven’t been any “alt-right/nazi/evilwhitepeople/whatever” creating mobs, and such outside of theaters, and such.
The only people I see jumping to that conclusion, or taking the movie too seriously are people like you.
Regardless what they look like, regardless what their political affiliation is, or whatever…

@Beau Skunky
Stop regurgitating Todd Phillip’s pathetic What-about-ism. Todd Phillips is one of Those Guys who’s a big fan of edgy media and courts controversy but doesn’t have the spine to own up and admit to its controversy and edge. And always blames the audience for thinking he’s not funny.
Deadpool is entirely unrealistic and not to be taken seriously or deeply at all. Deadpool could never happen in the real world.
John Wick is, again, unrealistic. And also, he’s sympathetic, and way more sympathetic than Joker because the reason why he’s killing bad guys is because some fucking asshole killed his dog.
How the hell is Harley Quinn equivalent to Joker? She’s hardly a insane murderer like Joker, and she’s a domestic abuse victim of his.
And stop with the “Virtue Signaling” accusation. You’re not fucking mind readers. It’s possible for people to genuinely care about something in sincere error. You gonna claim the US Army was “virtue signaling” about the movie? And it wasn’t hypocritical to single out 2019 Joker because there’s nothing else like 2019 Joker. He’s incredibly realistic. Before it finally came out, there was nothing but the previews, and some people thought it might turn out to resonate too much with the likes of incels, alt-right, “Honklers”, their adjacents, and otherwise angry white males who blame everything on Society because “We Live In A Society” and decide to shoot things up a bit. And by “a bit”, I mean a lot. Of people.
Even though Joker went full “we live in a society” at the end and the anger boiling over turned out to be motivated by the injustice of corporate elites and government corruption, not nationalistic hate against immigrants, foreigners, and minorities, nobody knew that before the movie came out.

Yeah, while Deadpool’s less realistic, it’s probably more violent, (a great funny movie though) so it is hypocritical that people are only singling out Joker in the past few years to “Virtue signal.”
Not saying they should protest other movies, as protesting Deadpool would still look silly, as it’s very obviously not for kids. (Same for Joker.)

Geek mode activated:
Still, even it’s a li’l ambiguous, as the Joker himself points out that he “always remembers things differently,” and he prefers his past be “multiple choice.” This is even reflected by the Heath Ledger Joker, always changing his story.

You know I have to ask those “parents” where the hell were they when Deadpool came out? He’s a violent mercenary that constantly breaks the 4th wall and everyone loves him. Or how about John Wick when he shoot up all of those mercs because they killed his dog?
People who bitch about Joker but at the same time show more support and love towards Harley Quinn and/or her upcoming Birds of Prey film are fakers that seeks attention.
Killing Joke seems to be commonly accepted as Joker’s backstory tho
That’s the point though, Joker has always been a violent guy. Most other portrayals has shown that.
Yeah, I wanna see it, and give it a shot. Despite all the media & Twitterhead backlash, it’s actually doing very good, and most seem to like it.
@northern haste
Yeah, surprised I haven’t seen any complaints about that, but basically it’s just a possible orgin story, and a stand-alone movie not part of the current DC movieverse.
Edited
The movie is actually really fucking good. And having seen it, I can say confidently that it’s basically not the story everyone wants it to be.
Sure, it’s violent. But so is everything else. It does go in a totally different direction than they seem to expect.
It buries Leto’s Joker and ascends to be heir to Heath Ledger’s.
I haven’t actually looked up any of the post released problems but I do never seen before the movie came out the usual the joker should not have a backstory complaints
@vit
I don’t care about the Hangerover movies, or whatever, but I still think this Joker movie looks good, and doesn’t deserve all the drama it’s getting which is basically just “The movie’s too violent/it’ll inspire violence/think of the children!/ect.” B.S.
Especially, considering there are much more violent movies & such out there.

@vit
… I’m a fucking MORON. I forgot Todd pulled that shit with Hangover Part 2.

Casino (1995)
At least we’ll never have to suffer another Hangover movie.
@Beau Skunky
The movie, a little bit.
Todd Philips, nah. He deserves it.

The movie has it’s issues, but yeah seriously I agree with Beau, what’s your problem?
What’s your problem?
