Twilight has been pushing her friends around with her levitation spell since Season 1 (and Spike since the very first episode). It’s a part of her character—she’s rather impatient and a literally “pushy” girl when she gets annoyed. Fortunately for her, Unicorns using their magic this way seems to be more socially acceptable to ponies than it’d be among humans—they’re not as fixated on “personal space” like we are.
Her friends were trying to hide the fact that the festival was crumbling down. Seeing they were all keeping something from her, I can see why she grabbed them like an angry mother.
Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash both pull up to airbrake before setting down, and Spike puts one leg out to ease himself down before the aura cuts out and they all just drop.
