Description

Spike: “My plan to make Rarity jealous was going so well, too! But now NEITHER of them is spending as much time with me anymore!”

Twilight: “THAT’S what’s been going on this whole time!? Spike, when are you gonna get over Rarity already?”

Spike: “Well, when is RARITY gonna return my affections OR reject me outright, rather than stringing me along just so I’ll do all her chores for her?”

Twilight: “…Touche.”

Special delivery, everypony! It’s another comic for the Season 9 Retirement Party! This week’s comic is based on Dragon Dropped, aka: “Rarity has Become Accustomed to Spike Waiting on Her Claw and Foot and Cannot Cope with Him Living His Own Life Anymore: the Episode”. This one’s… okay. I didn’t hate it; Rarity was extra Rarity, which is always fun to see, and it was great to see Gabby again, and building a friendship with Spike no less! It kinda seemed going in like they were gonna bring closure to the whole “Spike has a crush on Rarity” thing, but that wasn’t even really addressed. Instead we got a lot of entitled behavior and possessiveness over what’s supposed to just be a good friend, which kinda felt like Make New Friends but Keep Discord all over again… but without the fun chaos magic or the excuse of not having friends before. …And I’m not the only one that feels like Rarity takes advantage of Spike more than a mutual relationship should, right?

I really need to draw griffons more often. I’m still not sure what to do with their beaks and stuff. I also need to draw Rarity more… just ‘cause I don’t feel like I draw Rarity enough for whatever reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hope you all make time for the relationships you value most! Looking forward to the next episode!

Spike still has a chance with those double “platonic” jabs? Wouldn’t have thought so.

@BJDazzle
Yes, this is the first time he did. And he did not explain why, so Rarity had to find out by herself. Of course he didn’t need to tell her, but it would’ve been helpful. For Stars’ sake, she was convinced she’d upset him without even knowing how or why.

Moreover, she didn’t exactly take advantage of him when she took him to the Power Ponies convention or played O&O with him. She was doing things he liked. Nevermind the gigantic box of things she’d brought to the post office to apologize to him…

Except Spike DID refuse in this episode, and we got to see what happens. Rarity… didn’t take it well.

@Ponylooker
Look, I’ve supported Sparity since Secret of My Excess; I’m on your side here. But Rarity needs to make a commitment for it to work, and actually value Spike’s feelings more than his assistance.

And let’s be honest: Rarity and Gabby aren’t gonna last. It’s not like Rarity has the best track record with consistent relationships. Spike still has a chance.

Nice that you’re calling her “sister,” Spike.

The feeling is mutual.

We Crossdress Harder
As a diehard Sparity shipper, I have problems with both the episode and this comic. On the other hand, Gabby in a pink dress.

Rarity takes advantage of Spike, but he could always simply refuse. She’s not taking anything that isn’t freely and enthusiastically offered.
