Lyra: “We’ll show them that magical ponies exist!”
Bon Bon: “Of course we will, Lyra. Of course we will.”
I dunno it seems like children (or maybe we should call it family?) entertainment handles most issues better nowadays despite adult entertainment able to be more direct about issues.
Because they don’t feel compelled to sexualize it. It’s “Trevor has two mommies”, not “Trevor has two mommies and that’s kinda hot”.
Luna and Sam are explicitly a relationship just so you know. They went on a date in an episode and actually called it a date (not a hang out with friends or anything like that).
We’ve seen three permanent fusions for Steven Universe and all of them have a romantic tone for them. Ruby and Sapphire are the most explicit being main characters (and having, you know, a wedding episode).
Star vs would take the cake for background characters though - they have a whole sequence of kissing of various couples and there’s like four homosexual couples in the mix plus another couple in a different episode. Then there’s Jackie and Chloe…
Well, either way, it feels like ever since Legend of Korra and Steven Universe, the flood gates have opened for children entertainment to include homosexual romance (and why the hell do they handle it better then adult entertainment?!).
Steven Universe only kind of counts for this since fusion has multiple meanings beyond being romantic and Pear/Rose is failed, as you yourself said. As far as I know Garnet is the only one that is confirmed being a romantic relationship. Though I guess it depends on how strictly you take fusion being a romantic only thing or more than that.
I don’t actually watch Loud House so while I knew about Clyde’s Dads and that Luna was bi I was unsure if she was in a confirmed relationship. I mean we would still have the first to have two married gay couples though as I find it unlikely that Lofty and Holiday aren’t married.
Steven Universe (there’s the main Garnet, well the failed Pearl x Rose, Rhodonite, another one that’s poly…)
Loud House (Clyde’s dads, Luna x Sam)
Twice
Edit: Which is the only time that this has happened in a cartoon IIRC. I don’t think any others have had two confirmed gay couples in it before.

“You mean ‘married’, Lyra. There’s no difference.”
“Tell that to the two tons of glitter I ordered.”
“…The what?”
Well its not like there is a lot to report on in Ponyville and it was like a few pages in. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she officiated it though.
