There’s no practical difference between someone who is incapable of ever growing old (i.e. “immortal”) and someone who can reduce their age or otherwise rejuvenate their body to a healthier, less senescent state.

Actually, going by what Lauren Faust has said (I know she said that her ideas no longer apply save for what is in the show) alicorn immortality is explicitly non-canon. Celestia and Luna themselves are just naturally long lived.

Yes and I’m sure the Princess of FRIENDSHIP will not be able to make more friends, and she’ll just HATE getting to protect the descendants of her friends for generations. I’m sure AJ especially wouldn’t be enraged if she decided to give that up to die with her friends.
Seriously people, stop trying to make immortality into a bad thing just because you’ll never get it. Even if this didn’t happen, one of them would have to witness the deaths of all the others, but Twilight does so knowing she can protect those they died caring about.

I personally don’t think she’s has an immortal lifespan, longevity yes! & will most likely out live her friends (unless some other official media makes mention why Celestia lived for so long), but not immortal.

Think about this tweet. It technically never specified who “Twilight’s friends” are, and the question involved the words “all of her friends.”
 
At the risk of being repetitive, again, I like to think there’s multiple candidates for casting age spells, Starlight included, same for Twilight especially since she’s likely surpassed Star Swirl.
