Wait, is the 2014 holiday special comic not canon? Because despite the story having to be set after Rainbow Rocks, it treats Sunset’s sleepover at Pinkie Pie’s house as her first and in Rarity’s house as Sunset’s second despite her having one in Rainbow Rocks.

you can stop say about let’s sunset go back to 2013,uh… you too late :/

WHY would they want to adapt it? reception aside every time the show ran into canon from the comics they ignored/replaced it (unless they made a fuss of it tying in). HOW could they adapt it without fundamentally changing it given all the things that have happened in the show since.
 
AND if they do incorporate it into canon, wouldn’t this be a chance for them to fix it?
 
That it took five year for another EG holiday special despite the success of the EG series. That’s near objective proof they realized their mistake. I have no reason to believe they’d try again without a plan to avoid this.
