Anybody else think the main reason Sunset’s magic changed for this scene might’ve really been so that her magic would be more distinct from Starlight Glimmer’s in order to make the pass-between more obvious?

‘Cause she wasn’t sure of herself yet at that point, I guess. She did change in look until she was sure herself that she was a better person maybe?
 
Though personally my headcanon for her hair color difference is that it’s just sun bleached from spending more time outdoors.

That’s the explanation I got when the topic of her colours came up in the MLP-VC chat. Presumably Harshbro wanted to give her softer colours to reflect her reformation.

Ummm, except she wasn’t a villain in Rainbow Rocks, not even a little, and she still had those bold red and orange colors in her hair. Is she not allowed to have bright-red hair if she’s not a bad guy or something?

And, wasn’t her magic a bluish-green before? Why is it off-red now?
 
Come to think of it, we haven’t seen her use magic since she became a raging she-demon. Maybe a long-lasting effect…?
 
And also, how come she didn’t go back to her earlier bolder mane colors back in Equestria?
