Their squishiness is deceptive, tentacles are actually extremely tough to damage and quite resilient when subjected to pain. Usually all you manage to do is make them more aggressive and less gentle.

As Rainbow Dash was so focused on the treasure that no doubt was hidden deep within the labyrinth that she hadn’t noticed the shadows that loomed past her frame. With each clink of her claws, the Pegasus eagerly prepared herself for whatever beast could lie ahead, not realizing the threat behind her. Suddenly, she a hind leg snagged by a moist tendril and as it was pulled right from under her, she felt it grab her tail. She had no time to say or object to anything, face red hot when she felt a cold breeze tickle her lower lips in the realization she was being exposed.
