I figure the Royal Swanifying is a practical joke the unicorns of Canterlot play on Celestia and Luna each year: a totally absurd “celebration” that the Princesses are supposed to oversee to keep up appearances. The whole plot of “Between Dark and Dawn” was basically Celestia and Luna’s way of getting out of it by foisting it on Twilight and the Mane Six. (The Royal Sisters’ sudden interest in heroics was just an act to get Twilight annoyed enough to agree to temporarily take on the “ruling Equestria” job under the belief that Celestia and Luna needed a vacation.)
Look on the bright side; those sections are short, and the main focus is Celestia and Luna.
Mostly Twilight, because she already went through similar situations where she rejected help from others in an effort to appear strong and independent
Also, based on your reactions, I’d say you were NOT a fan of the Mane Six portions of the episode.
To be fair, it was Spike’s fault he was f&&king up Canterlot by taking advantage of his position as Princess Royal Assitant
