I’ve never been a huge Twilight Sparkle fan (it’s quite the opposite, actually) as I find her personality usually annoying  
But here she’s even worse, she has amazing friends and I feel like sometimes she doesn’t deserve them

Remember, Twilight’s kind of a control freak. Her first impulse is ALWAYS to try to solve the problem by herself. Only when it’s obvious she’s in over her head does she call out to her friends for help.

She is well-known for putting them on a pedestal, she had seven of them in total versus the princess’ one or two, and it wasn’t a world-threatening situation.
 
Plus, she didn’t have much insight into how Canterlot was run, really, with the delegating.

I am who I am
I actually liked Twilight’s portrayal in the episode - to me, it made perfect sense that she wouldn’t exactly act rationally when trying to please the princesses, and wouldn’t remember something they mentioned to her a little while ago.
 
It’s always been the case before that she admires them (especially Celestia) so much that her desire to please them can override her rational mind.
