Well, Boulder Media animated Rainbow Roadtrip while DHX and Toon Boom Harmony animated the entire 2017 movie because the animation of Rainbow Roadtrip looks very similar to the movie but it was fully 2D. Despite the tv show, the movie, and the two specials along with the spin-off series and shorts got the same animation.

I like they’re using a night sky  
background this time. In the Movie we only saw daytime sky or storm sky. We never saw any moment setted during the night.
