However unlikely, it is canon.
house = someone to pay for the bills of zed house= most likly not an orphan
@warc9
Can you two please take this to PMs?
What is unlikely is Scootaloo having famous adventurer parents and not saying a word about them for eight seasons.
House =/= not an orphan
Witch is just really unlikely with the most likely conclusion to come up being house = not an orphan
If she were less enthusiastic about their return I might buy that, but she’s excited about them as she ever was about Rainbow Dash, so I find it hard to believe she wouldn’t be talking about them all the time. I get that the reason is likely that they were never planned to exist before this season, but they could have been better implemented.
@warc9
Not necessarily. Not everyone who enters foster care ends up adopted. They can become a ward of the state.
Edited
If you really need a justification beyond “the characters hadn’t actually been created yet”, maybe she never talked about them because she felt like they’d abandoned her (which they kinda did).
@íaqwsy
And then they act like it’s no big thing that they’re dragging her away to the middle of nowhere and forcing her to abandon everyone and everything that was ever part of her life. I swear, these two are right next to Lightning Dust on the “Ponies who shouldn’t be making decisions on Scootaloo’s behalf” list. :P
That sounds like it would be a short window between not adopted and adopted.
No, Orphans can be put into foster homes where they are taken care of by volunteers, they are yet to be adopted.
Just because they are in a home doesn’t mean they have “parents.”
@Knackerman
You brought up foster care, not me.
So again, house = parents that pay rent/mortgage
Edited
You are the one who brought up adoption, not me. You can foster a child without adopting them. So your tax forms are kind of a non sequitur.
We don’t even know if they HAVE taxes in Equestria, but that argument is beside the point.
Point being, acting like living in a house was automatically a refutation of the idea that Scootaloo could have been an orphan is ridiculous.
Edited
If you want to argue with tax forms that would ask the question “How many children do you have?” and the previous year before adoption you said 0, and this year you said 1 beacuse you adopted, thus entitling the taxpayer to whatever tax credits exist for being parents to zed children, be my guest.
You can also not be an orphan and live in a house. In fact most children who are not orphans live in a house.
Look, you wanna argue with a dictionary, be my guest.
I’m just saying you can still be an orphan and live in a house. Living in a house is not automatically evidence your parents are not dead.
Edited
As soon as you get adopted the people who adopted you become your parents.
Assuming that they weren’t zombies at the time, your parents are no longer dead.
Your birth parents are dead, your adoptive parents who are for all legal and tax definitions, your parents, are not dead.
AGAIN -
or·phan
noun
a child whose parents are dead.
Your are still an orphan even if you get adopted. That doesn’t change just because you enter foster care. Adoptive parents don’t change that.
Right, and she would have not have been an orphan right after the adoption was compete.
or·phan
noun
a child whose parents are dead.
Your parents are still dead, even when in foster care. Just like how Apple siblings are orphans despite being raised by Granny Smith.
Edited
@Knackerman
If she was in foster care, that makes her no longer an orphan.
Yet you explicitly stated that she was indeed an orphan.
What part of ‘foster care’ do you not understand? Those don’t have to be group homes but can be private homes as well. Never said she was living in an orphanage.
@northern haste
FOSTER CARE. If I use caps will you pay more attention to what I’m saying instead of just assuming something else?
Edited
That house was clearly not an orphanage
Orphans normaly share rooms or have a very small room. She had nithver, she had a big room
This may come as a shock, but orphans live in houses too. Typically it’s called foster care.
@The Equestrian Zodiac
Yes, with Shining Armor and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash’s families in particular, but this is still a pretty blatant example.
