It’s like when they were comparing a nervous grin to an actual smile
The cg was painful to look at, Luna looked awful, and all around the show’s characters looked off and weird in motion, and they didn’t mesh well with the new ones.
also sometimes it felt like some people work directly ignoring context when they were comparing. Both the movie and forgotten friendship has Twilight to do a big smile and people seem to have forgotten that the movies one was a nervous grin not a legitimate smile out of happiness
Agreed… Alot of people got tired of that. The new movie style makes it look more cinematic, and the ponies a bit more dimensional.
I feel if the movie went for the same art/animation style but a little upgraded the movie would have looked like a TV movie that got a full theatrical run.
which by the way is possibly one of the things that killed 2D animation in theatres
Yeah, the only criticisms I ever see are, “It’s slightly different from the show! Therefore it’s bad, and I hate it! Gragh!”
I kinda wish fans were more open to other art styles.
Honestly I don’t think I’ve actually seen much people actually give reasons to not like the movie’s art style and even I do it just comes across as petty
Also, I kinda liked the movie style, I don’t get the hate over it.

because the movie looked like trash, on top of being trash. But the new rigs for the show are a good thing. RaRa is full on marshmellow now and she’s adorable.
The placement and shape of both the eyes and mouth are different.
It’s just a matter of weird perspective… That’s an angle you usually don’t see a pony from… And let’s suppose that they were trying to copy movie faces, how is that a bad thing?
I fail to see how either of those are similar. In fact, as much as I love the movie and how it looks, I’d say the show’s still image looks more expressive.
