Pretty much. That episode was really interesting that way, how none of the characters were bad or really did anything overly wrong, and everyone equally contributed to the whole issue at hand to the point that removing even one of them would have effectively prevented anything wrong from happening in that episode. :P

So in other words kinda a Weirdo, Social Issue, and Clinging to Famous people but he is a young guy he did stand up to the princess when Iron will be bothering Twilight but he got scared, but in other words, he was being a good friend.

Honestly, very much like Twilight was in Season 1 with his somewhat awkward lack of social skills and fanboying over his heroes :P

I think a lot of characters from past seasons will make a return sooooo stargazer might come back i hope prince blueblood returns and get redeemed he only showed up in season 1 and a cameo in season 2

I really get the feeling the writers were overall experimenting to try and find a balance they liked. The earliest seasons for the most part had a very black and white kind of morality, where characters like Trixie and Gilda were written off as villains purely because they were opposed to the main characters and Luna became good by having the evil zapped out of her rather than any willingness to change on her part. Then they seemed to go really far to the other direction where all it took for even the worst villains imaginable to make the jump to good was to make a friend or have a sad backstory or sing a song. Now they seem to have pulled it back in the latest seasons where the consensus seems to be “everyone has good in them, everyone can change, but that doesn’t mean they want to or will become good guys” :D

That makes even more sense considering Common Ground had Quibble as sarcastic but overall nice and almost sweet the lengths he was going to to be accepted. It’s probably mostly a case of bad first impressions - especially considering the show is more gray about things even from a season or two ago.

I feel like a lot of the “jerk” characters get treated harshly despite being put in a way that makes them act worse than their norm. Quibble Pants, for example, was entirely friendly and jovial until he and Dashie started arguing which implies to me his norm is friendly and jovial but he just takes some stuff too seriously. That’s basically Twilight: she’s normally nice but can be a jerk when she’s stressed :D

…fair point. He at least was mostly innocent considering Iron Will’s advertising. Though I’m a huge introvert offline and don’t like Pinkie’s normal level of extroversion, either.

I’m honestly surprised it didn’t end with Twilight’s mom learning that, or at least owning up for it. She didn’t apologize, or even seem to care, that she’d inadvertently volunteered her daughter for a crappy job :P

I told you. He’s a cutie and a nice guy. It’s just that he’s at his worst a lot in the episode. If we had to judge characters by their worst, we’d have to judge Pinkie Pie’s cuteness by the left and her character by the right XD

I actually felt bad for Iron Will. Velvet agreed to his terms via contract (It’s not his fault Velvet didn’t feel like reading the contract), and when it came to a head Twilight was actually like “Okay I’ll do the princess stuff for the sake of my family”. Sleazy or not, everyone there agreed of their own free will to Iron Will’s terms and he had every reasonable right to expect them to do it, and then they just welshed in the end and said “this is too hard leave us alone” which turned the crowd against Iron Will. I feel like at the very least Twilight’s family could have tried to opt out of the contract diplomatically, perhaps by cancelling the agreement by paying for the cruise outright, or tried to negotiate a more reasonable agreement with strict hours that allowed Twilight to also spend time with their family rather than just outright not fulfilling their end of the bargain. A jerk or not, a deals a deal, y’know? :P

Honestly, the way Iron Will bailed while shouting ‘No refunds!’ brings said legitimacy of both the contest and cruise into question XD

I think, purely from a storytelling perspective, he got completely screwed. He’s just some innocent kid who wins a legitimate contest to hang out with a celebrity fair and square and then gets raged at for it because the celebrity in question was having a bad day and didn’t like that she was contractually obligated to work in exchange for the cruise she was given. At least he got ice cream, though :P
