There should be a crossover for DC Superhero Girls and Equestria Girls. RIGHT NOW!

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, since Lauren said that she left due to Hasbro wanting to take the show in a different direction than what she wanted.

She left FiM staff like 2 years before EQG. In fact it may be possible Hasbro was beginning to explore EQG development and she didn’t want to be involved with it.

How come Equestria Girls was never made by Lauren Faust, she’s the one created MLP:FiM.

Movie 1 was about preventing Sumset from getting the crown and using it to overthrow Equestria. Saving the students was just a byproduct of stopping Sunset from achieving her goals, not the extent of the goal of the protagonists of the film. The characters didn’t even know that the students were at any risk until the very end.
 
Movie 2 was about preventing the Sirens from regaining enough of their power to conquer the world, not the school. Mind controlling students was primarily a tactic to lure out the magic of the heroes so they could steal it, not an end goal in itself.
 
Saying these movies are about saving the school is like saying Superman vs “insert world-ending threat here” is about saving the city because thats where they fight.

Having watched a few episodes of this now, the formula seems awfully familiar.
 
Not that it’s bad, but it actually feels like a rehash of MLP.

It’s still a save the school plot because the story is still about Twilight earning the favor of the student body to win back her crown. It’s also about saving the student body from mass hypnosis to be Sunset’s army. It is completely zeroed in on the school with all the cliches that entails - crush at fight sight, winning the big dance royalty, bringing the school together, and saving everyone from the big bully only to make friends with the bully too. The only saving grace of the typical stuff is a magical element thrown in.
 
You can’t take the high school out of the plot without seriously changing up the script because it hinders on the fall formal for the story. Comparatively, swap the high school for a party gone wrong thanks to Babs (like the food fight in the actual series) in DCSG and the plot doesn’t have to change in the least.

No, it’s not the same thing. DCSG is all about being heroes and saving everyone in the city. EqG for a very long time kept it to saving their classmates. It was entirely surrounded by that. For instance, #Sweet Justice of DCSG was about saving every teenager in Metropolis from a Luthor and the businesses being destroyed by them. EqG was all about putting a stop to Sunset Shimmer, winning the fall formal to get her crown, and then saving JUST the student body from mind control. It was kept to a “save the school” plot with a fantastical element. That isn’t a bad thing but there IS a difference.

I can’t stand people being purposefully obtuse about something and having to explain a simple concept like examples down to a minuet detail because of very clear nitpicking or looking for ways to criticize.
