Actually, you’re both wrong. The script of the film says that Derpy is trying to save Twilight from being petrified by Tempest. But it was Rainbow Dash who saved Twilight’s life.
But Derpy didn’t save her. She was caught in the crossfires. Twilight would have been petrified by Tempest if Rainbow Dash fails to save her since Twilight was petrified last time by a cockatrice in season one of the show.
Actually, Derpy did not save the world. The Mane Six and the new friends they made beyond Equestria were the real heroes in the movie.
Actually, it was Rainbow Dash who said Twilight’s name. And Derpy did not save the world. The real heroes who saved the world from the wrath of the Storm King is technically just the Mane Six and Spike, Capper, The Pirate Parrots and Princess Skystar.
