[Princess Sci-TwiSeems a little odd that the Equestria Girls version of Twilight Sparkle would have wings while Sunset Shimmer doesn’t, huh? I never really thought of it that much, but a lot of people seem bothered by this. So, I did some thinking.Well, in the first Equestria Girls movie, it’s implied that the human counterparts channel the power of their pony counterparts whenever they ‘pony up’. That’s why Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash get wings while the other girls don’t, and horns would just look weird on a EG. EG Twilight channels Princess Twilight’s power. Princess Twilight has wings, ergo, EG Twilight gets wings. Frankly, I think it would be more confusing if she didn’t get wings.While you can make a case for Sunset Shimmer deserving those wings, they wouldn’t carry the same symbolic weight as they do in Equestria. In the EG world, there is no triad of unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies, and there are no alicorns. There are only those with magic and those without. Human Twilight having wings doesn’t mean anything beyond her being linked to her pony counterpart.

Maybe because the link is through the Elements, so they don’t feel the ‘power tap’ because it’s indirect.

Here’s an interesting question: if the the humane 6 are link to their pony counterparts, why is it that the ponies can’t noticed something?
I agree with you. it need to be link the counterpart or otherwise, it won’t work for themeselves.
Wings on a pony do not hold quite the same connotations of angelicness, especially when combined with the horn she naturally had to have.
Also, she’s the human equivalent of Princess Twilight, who started life as a unicorn, and gained Alicorn status through her own work. Sci-Twi of course coming from the human world has never had the chance to earn herself Alicorn powers, and therefore is still unicorn-equivalent.

They’re using the elements of harmony and the powers channeled to them.
The elements recognized them as the same as their pony counterparts

Elements of harmony and all.
And Sunset and Sci-Twi proceeding to obtain that power through other means.
Sunset: wearing the element of magic
Sci-Twi: absorbing the pony up magic (originated from the elements) from humane 5
But it also became part of them in the process.
That didn’t happen until the end of Friendship Games where the statue was destroyed and start leaking magic as shown in Legend of Everfree.
