>Click-click… Clack-clack…
>it’s…
>An egg? with… Legs?
>Click-click
>Legs with rather large claws
>Clack-clack
>It steps towards you.
>You step back in turn.
>It’s steps are quick and precise, with pauses in between.
>With each step it takes forward you take one or two back.
>You realize you backed up past your apartment door.
>You turn to the closest door and slam your hooves against it repeatedly.
>“HELP!!!”
>“LET ME IN!!!”
>No reponse.
>The… Egg… draws in closer.
>You back up more
>You try once again on another door.
>Again, no response.
>Surely somepony has to have heard you knocking and screaming.
>It isn’t long before you are backed into the end of the hallway.
>What can you do now?
>You size up the creature
>The gap between the floor and the body seems big enough to run through.
>Not like you have any other options.
>Eyes closed you charge.
>You must have angled yourself wrong as you feel yourself knock one of it’s legs aside.
>After what you believe to be a few feet away you open your eyes and look back.
>Just as you suspected you hit one of it’s legs.
>The creature was trying to regain it’s balance, however it’s form would not allow to do so easily.
>With a sharp misstep it’s body slammed into the wall which only further put it off kilter and pushed the base of it’s leg into it’s body with a wet crack.
>Too damaged to maintain any balance it falls to the floor and breaks open.
>It’s legs briefly jerk and muscles spasm as it’s contents spill out in front of you.
>The urge to flee is overridden by curiosity.
>You approach the body.
>It really is just an egg
>You Look at the yolk but quickly turn away
>It was that same feeling you get when you accidentally look another pony directly in the eyes.
>but it was just a yolk… wasn’t it?
>Another sound is heard from upstairs
>A soft gurgling
>Nope, nuh-uh, nah, not dealing with that.
>You stop in front of your door.
>Perhaps… Maybe you shouldn’t trap yourself in your apartment if right now.
>Not with something else in the building.
>You run down the stairs and out into the streets.
>They are completely empty
>Not a single living thing is visible
>Not a single sound to be heard beside your hoof steps
>Where do you go now?
>Taku…
>Maybe… just maybe…
>You have only been there twice but you’re pretty sure you know where to go.
>As you walk down the streets you look into buildings to see if anypony is in them.
>Nopony is there.
>The lights in the buildings are out but the street lights seem to be working just fine
>What’s going on?
>Where did everypony go?
>What was that creature?
>Where did it come from?
>Were there more?
>Maybe Taku can help figure out what’s going on.
>Assuming she didn’t disappear with everypony else.
>Why didn’t you disappear?
>You stop in your tracks.
>“Why didn’t I disappear?” you ask yourself aloud.
>That question bothered you the most.
>why you?
>If you can’t find Taku, or anypony else, answering that question will be your main goal.
>Although you have no idea where to go to find that out.
>You start walking again.
>Probably about halfway to her place at this point.
>something in the distance breaks the silence
>A faint ringing
>It doesn’t seem to be coming from your intended path which is a relief.
>You’ll deal with whatever that is later, or ideally not at all.
>As you walk you notice the ringing seems to be moving.
>When you first heard it, it was coming from the west.
>Now it’s coming from the south, where you just came from.
>Was it following you?
>You listen for a while.
>It doesn’t seem to be getting closer.
>After a bit it seems to be going east.
>At least it’s not following you.
>but the fact it’s moving is a bit worrisome
>another sound suddenly breaks the silence.
>“H-hello?!”
