Drawing her attention away from the race is literally what happened. It caused the Nightmare Moon timeline
Accidently incasing Rainbow Dash happened and caused the Discord timeline.
Everything they did in the past that affected literally anything in the past messed with time.
Without that limitation, she could have used her za warudo spell and been done with it.
Not particularly. So long as she didn’t hurt anyone (especially Flutters or Rainbow), collateral damage wasn’t too much of a concern, as Cloudsdale is mostly clouds. And, so long as she didn’t draw Dash’s attention enough to stop the rainboom, drawing attention likely wouldn’t be too much of a problem either.
Cloudsdale is the only one where it really applies.
You mean in the Canterlot Siege, or in Starlight’s village, or in Cloudsdale when Starlight was trying to prevent the rainboom?
I feel the same way. Plus, Rainbow and Fluttershy don’t even look similar to Twilight or share many of her abilities the way Nail and Kami do so the joke falls even flatter.
Also, it can be argued Twilight has beaten Starlight before, just not in a straight magic fight where they tied at most, though I admit that is a bit of a stretch.
