Description
Hey folks I think that i’m going to be offline for a bit. There is a lot of stuff up in the air at the moment and I’ve been hearing a bunch about all these sites people want to move to. I’ll be on Discord and still be on here to respond to things but today took a big hit on me and I’m going to take a few days to get myself in order. I need to figure out what’s next for me. This isn’t the last you’ll hear from me on here, If things blow over and people stick it out here i’ll be back on here as well. However if artists and friends move to another site i’ll be posting about it here and probably moving myself. Until then I leave the art in your hands, I hope you’ll go beyond, plus ultra.
So much great art blasted into oblivion by a bunch of censorship obsessed idiots trying to treat the rest of the world like children.
Tumblr, you were never “cool”, but now you don’t even get to sit at the “cool losers” table in the cafeteria. Go sit in the hallway and eat your lunch.
sorry I am slightly insane
Also, if you want to talk about site-wide things like our rules and why they exist, please use the Site and Policy forum, not artist’s images.

Also Deviant Art seems to have a really weird, rocky past with their content policy and how their moderators react. Idk what their actual content policy is, but I’ve always gotten the impression that the basic rule is, anything goes /unless a mod happens to be offended/ that day. At least that’s what I’ve heard people complain about before - that they’ve been really inconsistent with what they let on there. I can only imagine that’s why, despite being the number one mainstream art site, a lot of career porn artists still rely on other outlets. I’ve gotten the impression that too many people felt unsafe with their site.
Maybe they’ve changed since the last time I checked, I don’t really know. But the fact of the matter is humanized loli is most definitely not allowed here. It’s just that the founder of Derpibooru didn’t want to even risk the potential for real world controversy and legal issues.
I mean, I really don’t think drawing a picture of Sweetie Belle in her EGQ, or some other humanized form doing something explicit really should have any serious risks in most places since she’s obviously a fictional character, but it’s just a scary scene to deal with I guess, and one way or another, it’s the house rules.
My guess is it has something to do with the fact that, in parts of the United States at least, it’s illegal to draw porn in the likeness of a real world child - as in someone who actually EXISTS, whom you use as the basis for your art. Like an example would be you taking a picture of your kid, then tracing it in a painting and making the kid naked and doing something explicit, then selling that art to someone - that’s a real deep level of fucked up and a gateway that some states consider too far, and that is legally treated in the same way that basic child porn is. This weird grey area that’s considered too far in many places is probably what Derpibooru’s admin was afraid of - they didn’t want to even RISK the possibility of some sick fuck posting something bad with an actual real world child who was cosplaying, and rule #5 just made it impossible by definition to ever even get to that point.
Also I would like to retract a statement I made earlier - Inkbunny is NOT a place to post this kind of content either. Idk what site I was thinking of where people post EGQ loli that they can’t post here, but that wasn’t it - Inkbunny is specifically, and strictly a FURRY site that doesn’t allow explicit images even of adult humans. There’s just some other site somewhere that a lot of artists here use as a secondary.
Back to the original topic though, in the end I really would just prefer to see Tumblr die at this point. They don’t deserve us, everyone should just migrate to someplace better. And by everyone I mean literally everyone - brony or otherwise. Maybe Deviant Art will get even bigger now, or maybe some other site will rise from the ashes. Only time will tell.
Also, I’m really not sure what you meant by “if losing tumblr means you stopping art, maybe art wasn’t for you”. That seems like a very odd way to look at it….

You are wrong. If you are aware of any explicit images of underage characters who appear to be human on this site, please report them - images like you have described are not allowed on this site.
When was the last time you checked rule #5
Well that is just a Rookie mistake. Why would you not keep a backup of your art. What if Tumblr had a catastrophic server failure? You cant depend on a free service to look after your files forever.
Deviant art lets you post what ever you want. Post here then use other sites to promote like Facebook or reddit. Deviant art does have a blog function and plenty of ways to promote your self. Honestly Tumblr is run and full of Sjws its the worst, My point being proven by them dealing with paedophiles by doing a blanket ban on all NSFW content.
If loosing that website stops you from making art then maybe art is not for you.

To add what others have mentioned, the blogging features was what made it stand out from other platforms. You could promote and share someone’s art with ease, or edit/add to other’s ideas. The gallery sites you’ve mentioned don’t have that same kind of interactivity. Speaking of Deviantart, it’s not as NSFW friendly as Tumblr and the mods can be just as terrible. Derpibooru is good for uploading MLP-related content and it has one of the best admin staff, but it’s good for only MLP. Whereas Tumblr is more than just an art archive/gallery site and had other topics.
Now if there was a website that could do what Tumblr did but much better and had a good mod team then you’d have a point, but so far none has stepped up to the plate.
It was never really a fantastic hub to begin with, but it’s just the fact that everyone was there until now. It’s all about exposure, and a nice, full community filled with more content than everyone else. Now that Tumblr decided to RUIN the capital it had for no reason at all, hopefully the mantle of responsibility will fall onto a much better company with a better service, and better policies. Inkbunny probably would be a good option because they seem to have a really relaxed content policy. Even more relaxed than this place.
||For example, you can’t post explicit images of humanized, underaged characters here (I.E Apple Bloom or Sweetie Belle in their Equestria Girls form). You can do that on Inkbunny though. ||

It’s a big deal because not every artist has their art backed up. Some artists have even disappeared for months or years. Some have died. People are doing their best to save as much art as possible from being lost forever but we all know that not everything can be saved (but that shouldn’t stop those from saving as much as possible).
But we both know it’s the latter, considering everyone and their mother has jumped ship already, myself included.
Either Tumbler will fix these mistakes and get better or they’ll die off. I hope it’s the former.
No doubt from Tumblr’s flawed algorithm; an algorithm that thought that freaking Garfield was considered explicit.
Apparently it nuked his channel.

Even the ugly, sweaty, and greasy neckbeards.
Especially them… they have a corner market on portable memmory, I swear
I’m not crying, someone just tossed a handful of raw emotion in my eyes…
