I mean, if you’re talking about The Hearth’s Warming Club, he doesn’t like to go home because he has no family and doesn’t feel he belongs - I’m not sure it has anything to do with Grampa Gruff specifically.
Do you remember of one episode from Season 8 that he hates to go home because he dislike Grandpa Gruff to bossing him everytime

Technically, it would be the Three Days of Freedom celebration (I’m guessing they showed the changelings at the end because they’re the only species besides the ponies that celebrates Hearth’s Warming - and then the yaks because they were relevant to the plot)
